Your Steam profile name is your username that other Steam users will see. This shouldn't be confused with your Steam ID, which is a string of numbers that Steam uses to identify you that can't be changed. Your Steam profile name, however, can be changed at any time, whether you've outgrown it or are just looking to change things up.

Now let's walk through the steps to change your Steam profile name.

Step 1. Launch the Steam client on your computer.

Step 2. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of your current profile name in the upper right corner of the screen, and then click "View My Profile." A screen displaying information associated with your Steam profile is displayed.

Step 3. Click "Edit Profile" beneath Level in the upper right corner of your profile screen. The Edit Profile screen is displayed. You'll see your current Steam profile name displayed in an editable field to the right of Profile Name.

Step 4. Replace the existing name in the Profile Name field with the new name you want to use as your Steam profile name.

Step 5. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and then click the green "Save Changes" button. Your Steam profile name will instantly be changed to reflect your new name.
