Xenia Canary Build as of September 18, 2022.

While I am not using the LATEST Build of Xenia Canary which was released just hours or a day or so ago, it's likely that nothing has changed. If you go to Google and search "Xenia Graphics Device Lost" you'll find a whole bunch of random Posts throughout the Internet claiming this happens to people and nobody knows why. It's not just GTA, either, it's a whole bunch of random games that do this.

When you FIRST generate the Settings File for Xenia, the GPU will always be set to "any." Which basically can also mean "d3d12." When using "any" or "d3d12," as shown in my previous Videos of Xenia and GTA IV, The Lost and Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony, a Fatal Error will occur after just a couple of minutes of playing each title saying "Graphics Device Lost" and each game will crash. To fix this, all you have to do is change the GPU from "any" to "vulkan" as shown in the Video and from what it appears, this crash will stop happening! Note that when you play on "any" or "d3d12," your games will look much better graphically. Using Vulkan, things will look darker and a bit worse graphically, but hey, the games do not crash and seem 100% playable in that current state! In time, I am sure the "any" and "d3d12" GPU Settings will work flawlessly, but for now in order for these games to be playable, we can use Vulkan for the GPU! I've searched high and low over the Internet for Posts and/or Videos explaining why this "Graphics Device Lost" Crash even happens in the first place or how to fix it, but nobody knows and has given any legit fix for this yet! I believe this is the only way to fix it and I am glad to show it! I've known about this since September, but have been so busy to record and upload this Video until now.

Note that when I was playing GTA V through Xenia Canary in a previous Video, I was using "any" within the Settings for the GPU, which is "d3d12." In regards to GTA V, you can use the standard GPU Settings, unlike the IV games which crash after a few minutes each of playing time.

There is one big thing I hope changes in the future. As of right now, at least what I am told since I didn't try this out myself, you can only play GTA V with PATCHES. You can't play on Version 1.00, which is far superior to any Patched Version of GTA V on Xbox 360. I hear that when you try and play on 1.00 through Xenia, after just a minute or so of playing, the game crashes, but it's not the "Graphics Device Lost" Fatal Error and instead something else. After updating, it's perfectly fine. I wouldn't recommend any Special Vehicle Collectors assemble a Save on Xbox 360 UNLESS it's through Version 1.00. At least with RPCS3 you can play GTA V on Version 1.00.

Happy Emulation!
