How to Fix Microphone Not Working in Xbox Voice Chat on Computer (Easy Method)
If your microphone isn’t working properly in Xbox voice chat on your computer, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Set Mic as Default Recording Device:
Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select “Sounds.”
Go to the “Recording” tab.
Right-click on your mic and choose “Set as Default Device.”
Click on the “Advanced” tab and ensure “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device” is checked.
Save the changes.
Set Mic as Default Communication Device:
Follow the same steps as above, but this time select “Set as Default Communication Device.”
Check Xbox App Settings:
Open the Xbox app and click on the gear icon in the bottom left corner.
Go to “Settings” -“Devices & streaming.”
Under “Audio,” make sure your mic is selected as the input device.
Confirm that “Headset mic” is selected as the output device.
Reset the Xbox App:
Open the Xbox app, click on the gear icon, and go to “Apps.”
Scroll down to the Xbox app, click on it, and choose “Advanced options.”
Click “Reset” to restore default settings.
Reinstall Audio Drivers:
If the issue persists, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the audio input drivers.
Remember to test your mic after each step to see if it’s working. Hopefully, one of these solutions will resolve the problem!
