How to Get the Golden Scale as a Child (Glitch) - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
11＊WARNING＊ If you do this glitch before getting the Piece of Heart then it will be permanently missed. If you want the Piece of Heart then get it first. Also, this glitch doesn't seem to work for the 3DS version.
First catch a fish whose size breaks the current record. Then, while you're still floating in the water, look toward the Pond Owner and hold down the L or Z-targeting button. While continuing to hold the button, move toward the Owner and have him weigh your fish. You will be rewarded with the Golden Scale.
You can do this even if you already have the Golden Scale, but it unfortunately doesn't give you more dive time than normal. Also, I haven't found how to do this with the Sinking Lure so don't use it.
