You can follow the steps below to install and configure the GNS3 VM Server on the Linux Mint distribution.
Step 1: First, install GNS3 and VMware Workstation on your #LinuxMint system.
Step 2: Log in to the GNS3 website and click Free Download. For optimum performance, click on the Download GNS3 VM link on the opened web page.
Step 3: To download the GNS3 VM virtual machine file, you need to choose one of the virtualization programs on the opened webpage. Click "VMware Workstation and Fusion" because you have installed VMware Pro on your computer.
Step 4: After downloading the #GNS3VM file with the Zip extension, open the terminal and extract the archive file to the folder using the "unzip filename.zip" command.
Step 5: After extracting the GNS3 VM.ova file to the folder, open VMware Workstation.
Step 6: Click File / Open from the menu and open the OVA file.
Step 7: Click Import after checking the location in the Import Virtual Machine window.
Step 8: After adding the GNS3 VM to the VMware program, open the settings of the virtual server and set the number of processors to 2 and the number of cores to 2, and enable the virtualization features.
Step 9: Disable the 3D Acceleration feature in the video hardware settings.
Step 10: Run the GNS3 virtual machine and check the IP address information.
Step 11: Now, open the GNS3 software and select Run appliances in a virtual machine in the Setup Wizard.
Step 12: In the server configuration, select the Host Binding setting according to the IP address of the virtual server.
Step 13: In the GNS3 VM window, select the VMware virtualization software and configure the vCPU value to 2.
Step 14: After connecting the GNS3 VM to GNS3, you can check the connection of the virtual server in the Servers Summary section.
