About this video: In this video, I show you exactly how to make a Bukkit server in Minecraft 1.14 in order to add plugins to your Minecraft 1.14. I also show you how to make a Spigot server in Minecraft 1.14 as Spigot is simply a Bukkit distribution. Both of these servers will let you get plugins on your Minecraft 1.14 server, and they will even improve performance on a 1.14 Minecraft server. Thus, if your 1.14 server is laggy, starting a Spigot server can help stop the lag!
The first thing you need to do when making a Bukkit server is download it. You can find the 1.14 Bukkit download link in the description above. Once you have it downloaded, you will need to add it to its own folder. You can name this what ever, but ‘1.14 Bukkit Server’ will help you know what it is. Once the 1.14 Spigot file is in your folder, you will need to create a new text document. Once you do, open it!
In this new text document, you will need to pass one of the lines of text above. If you want 2GB of RAM, you will add that one to this document. To add 4GB of RAM to your Minecraft server, add the text under the ‘4GB server’ above. Once you’ve got your code pasted in, you will need to save this file as a ‘run.bat’ file. Make sure that save type is listed as all files.
After that, double click your newly created run.bat file. A CMD will open up, but it will instantly fail. You will now see a ‘EULA.txt’ file in your server folder though. Open this, and change ‘EULA=false’ to ‘EULA=true’. Now, double click the run.bat file again, and it will start your server for the very first time! At this point, your server is started, but your friends can’t join it. If you want your friends to be able to join your 1.14 Spigot server, you will need to port forward it.
Port forwarding is a very simple process, and we have helped millions of people do it for Minecraft servers over the years. We have in-depth tutorial on port forwarding in the description above however you will want to forward the port 25565 on your local IPv4 address. Unfortunately, you cannot host a Minecraft server on an IPv6 address currently.
After your server has been port forwarded, you just need to grab your public IP address from the link above. Type this into Minecraft 1.14 under the multiplayer section, and click ‘join server’ You will join right on into your 1.14 Spigot server.
