About this video: If you want to know how to make Minecraft 1.20.3 server, this is the video for you! This truly is the complete guide top creating a Minecraft server as we cover potential issues you may have with a 1.20.3 server, how to fix any of those potential issues, and how to ensure that no matter what, you are able to play Minecraft 1.20.3 with your friends once this video is finished.
First things first, I do want to mention that this is not a 24 hour server, and it is hosted on your own computer and internet. This means the server’s IP should only be given to your friends, family, and people you trust. Luckily, if you do want a server that can be given to anyone, SimpleGameHosting, linked above, will allow you to host a Minecraft 1.20.3 server in minutes without having to worry about who you give the IP, the server’s hardware, or any of the other stress that comes with making a Minecraft server yourself.
What if you still want to learn how to create a Minecraft server in 1.20.3 though? Well, to get started, we need to go to the “Server Download” link above. This will take you to our text guide on making a Minecraft server. Once you are there, click the “Download Minecraft” button to go to the official Minecraft 1.20.3 server download page.
On this page, click the “minecraft_server_1.20.3.jar” link to start downloading the Minecraft server.jar. You make need to keep or save it depending on your browser.
With the Minecraft 1.20.3 server.jar downloaded, we need to create a “Minecraft Server 1.20.3” folder on our desktop and move the server.jar into it.
Next, open the folder you created. Double-click on the “server.jar” file, and some files and folders should be created. If not, you need Java 17 and the Jarfix from the description above.
Once you have the eula.txt file generated, open it, and change “eula=false” to “eula=true” if you agree to the Minecraft EULA. Save the file, and finally, double-click the server.jar file again. Your Minecraft 1.20.3 server will start!
At this point though, you are the only person who can join this server. In order for you to join the server, you will use the IP address “localhost”. This can be a good time to test the server and make sure you can play on it while running Minecraft without lag. If you can, we can move on to how to play Minecraft with your friends using your server.
In order to do this, we will need to port forward. Specifically, we will need to forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. This is covered in-depth in the video, and we even give you resource on how to login to your router, how to find your and port forward on your specific router, and so much more.
With the port forward complete, your friends can join your Minecraft server in 1.20.3 with your public IP address. This can be found in the description above. Just send them the IP address on that website, and they will be able to join assuming no firewalls are blocking their connection. If that is occurring, there a guide on fixing in the description above!
At this point though, you know exactly how to make a Minecraft server in 1.20.3! If you have any questions about how to create a Minecraft 1.20.3 server, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
