About this video: Creating a hardcore Minecraft server is a great way to add some additional challenge to the game and make playing on your Minecraft server a bit harder for anyone who joins it. However, how do you make a hardcore Minecraft server? Well, in this video, we show you exactly how to get a hardcore Minecraft server up and running.

We do assume that you already have a Minecraft server setup. If not, there is a guide on making a Minecraft server in the description above. You can convert any existing server into a hardcore server. You can also easily make a Minecraft server world hardcore from the start, but you must first start the server before you can delete and regenerate the world as a strictly hardcore world.

Once you have your Minecraft server created, open the main server directory/folder that has all of the files associated with your Minecraft server in it. In this folder, you will see a “server.properties” file.

Open the server.properties in Notepad. In the server.properties file, you will find the “hardcore=false” setting. This is the toggle to enable or disable hardcore on a Minecraft server.

Change this to "hardcore=true” to set your server to hardcore. From there. save the file, and you can start your server. It is now a hardcore server.

If you want to make sure the server is hardcore from the server, you can delete the “world” folder in your server directory. This will completely delete the world and generate a new one. The new world will have always been hardcore.

Now, when a user dies on the server, they will go into spectator mode. You can change the hardcore setting back to false in the server.properties and set their gamemode back to survival to keep playing on a hardcore server after a user has died.

With that being said, you now know how to make a hardcore Minecraft server. If you have any questions about how to setup a hardcore server in Minecraft, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
