About this video: Command blocks are a great way to setup commands to run a server. There are tons of different things you can do when enabling command blocks on a Minecraft server. From running commands when a user interacts with redstone elements to using command blocks to repeat commands on your server, there are tons of uses.
However, command blocks are disabled by default, and in order to use them, they will need be enabled on the server.
In order to enabled command blocks, first stop your server. Then, navigate to the “server.properties” file in your main server directory. Open this file with a text editor such as Notepad.
Then, find the “enable-command-block=false” setting. Change this to “enable-command-block=true” to turn on command blocks on the Minecraft server. Make sure to save the file then close it.
Now, start your server, and you will be able to place command blocks. You do need to be in creative to do this though. That can be done after OPing yourself. To do that on a server, just run the “op YOURUSERNAME” command in the server’s console.
Once you do that, you can use /gamemode creative in game in order to enter creative mod. The /give @s minecraft:command_block command to give yourself a command block once you are in creative. To go back to survival use the /gamemode survival command.
