About this video: This is our complete guide on how to make a Paper Minecraft server in 1.18.2. Why would you want a 1.18.2 PaperMC server? Well, Paper Minecraft servers are the best way to reduce lag, increase Minecraft server performance, and add plugins to your Minecraft server. In fact, a Paper server is the best way to setup plugins on a Minecraft server. Thus, let's go ahead and make a Paper server in 1.18.2!
First thing first, we need to download the PaperMC server file. You can find a link to download Paper 1.18.2 in the description above. That will take you to our text tutorial for how to create a Paper Minecraft server. On that tutorial, scroll down and click the yellow ‘Download PaperMC’ button to be taken to the official Paper download page. On this page, select 1.18.2 and click the download button on the most recent version. Paper 1.18.2 will begin downloading. you May have to keep or save the file depending on your browser.
With the Paper 1.18.2 server file downloaded, we can move on to how to setup your Paper 1.18.2 server. To do this, create a folder on your desktop called ‘Paper Minecraft 1.18.2 server’, and drag-and-drop the Paper file you downloaded into it. Once you have it in your Paper server folder, right click, select create new, and select ‘Text Document’. This will create a new text document. Open this document up and paste the code for the RAM you want your server to have in it. Then, click file, save as, and name it ‘run.bat’; make sure you select save type as All Files.
Finally, rename the PaperMC file you downloaded to simple ‘paper.jar’. Now, double click on the run.bat file to start your 1.18.2 Paper server. Except it will fail. That's because you need to open the newly generated eula.txt file and agree to the EULA. Then, start your server again. All of the Minecraft 1.18.2 Paper server files will generate. You have now create a Paper server.
