About this video: If you want to know how to make a Minecraft 1.21.4 server, this is the video for you! We will show you where to download the Minecraft server files, how to create a Minecraft server for version 1.21.4 with those files, and even get you started on allowing your friends to join your server so you can start playing Minecraft 1.21.4 with your friends. So, without anymore delay, here is our complete guide on how to make a server in Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4!

First things first, you will want to get started by downloading the Minecraft server files. There is a link in the description above that will take you to our complete text guide on how to make a Minecraft server in 1.21.4. In this guide, click the “Download Minecraft” button to go to Minecraft’s official 1.21.4 server file download page.

On this page, click the “minecraft_server_1.21.4.jar” link, and the server.jar file will start downloading. You will need to keep or save this file depending on your browser, but the server file is downloaded from Minecraft’s official website.

After you have the server.jar file downloaded, it is worth noting you will need Java 21 installed on your computer in order to make a Minecraft 1.21.4 server. There is a link in the description above to our guide on getting Java 21 as well as a link to the Jarfix, which we recommend running after you install Java 21.

From there, create a new folder on your desktop named “Minecraft Server 1.21.4”, and move the server.jar file you downloaded into it. Then, double-click on the server.jar file. When you do, a bunch of files will appear. One of these will be called eula.txt.

Open the eula.txt file in notepad. Then, change eula=false to eula=true and save the file, assuming you agree to Minecraft’s EULA.

Now, double-click the server.jar file again. Your Minecraft 1.21.4 server will start. There will be a GUI/console pop-up. This is where you will be able to do things like OP yourself and run other commands related to your Minecraft server.

At this point, your friends can’t join. We’ll cover more on that later. However, you can join your Minecraft server.

To do that, open up Minecraft and go to multiplayer. Then, add a server. You can name the server anything you want. The important part is the IP address/server address. From this, you want to use “localhost”. You are the only person who can join your server using this IP. Add the server to your server list and double-click it to join.

When you’re in-game, you will be able to see you join in the console that opened when you started your server. Now, assuming you aren’t having any performance issues or anything like that, you can start working towards playing Minecraft with your friends on your 1.21.4 server.

To do this, you will need to port forward the port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. Then, your friends will join your 1.21.4 Minecraft server using your public IP. There is a link in the description above to our complete guide on port forward a Minecraft server.

With that being said, you now know how to make a Minecraft server in 1.21.4. If you have any questions about how to create a Minecraft 1.21.4 server, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
