About this video: This video is a complete guide on how to play older versions of Minecraft. This will go over how to play older release versions of Minecraft, such as Minecraft 1.0, as well as how to play Minecraft Alpha and Minecraft Beta versions. You can even play the first version of Minecraft where you have one block and can’t even save your world.
To get started, you will need to open up the Minecraft Launcher. Then, in the Minecraft Launcher, click on “Settings” in the bottom left. Scroll down to the “Minecraft Java Edition Settings”. Then, click the “Show historical versions of Minecraft: Java Edition in the Launcher” checkbox. This will unlock older versions of Minecraft Java.
After that, we can actually setup your older versions of Minecraft. This can be done by navigating back to the “Minecraft Java Edition” section in the left-hand sidebar. Then, click on “Installations” at the top.
Click to add a “New Installation”. You can name your installation anything you want. However, you will need to click the “Versions” drop-down box. From there, you can select any version of Minecraft you want including alpha and even beta versions of Minecraft. It’s amazing how many versions of Minecraft are available to be played right in the Minecraft Launcher.
Make sure to “Save” your version in the bottom right. Now, you can play your old Minecraft version just like you would play any other version of Minecraft. Hover over it, and click the green “Play” button. Depending on how old the Minecraft version you are playing is, you may get a warning. This is okay. Just click “Play Anyway”, and Minecraft will open up with the version you selected.
It is worth noting that while this will work with really old beta and alpha Minecraft versions, it will also work with reverting a Minecraft version if something breaks in your world. Allowing you to keep play Minecraft on previous versions.
With that being said, you now know how to play old versions of Minecraft. If you have any questions about getting older Minecraft versions, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
Otherwise, if we did help you revert your Minecraft version, please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already. It really helps us out, and it means a ton to me. Thanks in advance!
