What'sup Survivalists! ItsCheif from #TeamWnJ here to Enhance your Animations and Tell your Stories!

I realized that a lot of my viewers don't have the best computers but also want to animate really big scenes for their epic Minecraft animations.

Fortunately, I got your back! Using XRefs in Cinema 4D, we are able to import proxies of background scenes that we can litter all around our backgrounds to cover up the ends of the world.

The process is simple, we start off by building the backgrounds in Minecraft using a technique called Terraforming. This can be done using plugins/mods like WorldEdit.

Once that's done, we can export our world as an obj using Mineways, the typical Minecraft animation software.

We then bring the OBJ into Cinema 4D where we can save it as a .c4d scene. This .c4d scene is intended purely as a background element and thus does not need to be fully detailed and textured.

This .c4d scene can now be used as a proxy for the XRef that Cinema 4D can use as a proxy file.

The advantage of using XRefs over classical .obj files is that XRefs can either be disabled entirely or switched with a low poly proxy. I also show you how to do this by creating an alternate .c4d scene file with just some geometry.
