How to Build Medieval Houses in Minecraft - Part 6 (Interior)
To finish off your medieval houses in Minecraft using the HM3 system, we have the final part of the basic tutorial series- interiors.
Usually, interiors aren't built for any of the buildings used in the cities all around Levaslier, this is to save time and resources from having to build something that nobody will ever see or explore.
That being said, however, we do occasionally like building HM3 houses in our survival world or claim one of the houses in the cities as our own- that, or one of the houses are simply used in the animation. Under those circumstances is when we will take the time to build in the interior but as you can probably imagine, that's a pretty rare case.
This video was originally recorded 2 months ago but I accidentally deleted the data and had to re-record it. Because of this, I could run through a block by block tutorial and instead resorted to doing a walkthrough of my thought process while building this interior- not just to show WHAT I've built, but WHY I've built it too.
The key concepts to take away from this video are:
- Build what's necessary over what's aesthetic:
Every house needs a kitchen and a bedroom, build those before you build random decor items like tables and chairs. What that usually results in is a change in the layout of the building.
- Keep things compact
There should never be some random empty space anywhere in your building- if you find that there is an empty spot, change the layout of the building by adding random bits of furniture.
- Keep things properly spaced
A mistake is to see the previous point and completely overload a house with random furniture everywhere, this is a mistake because it makes the house seem overcrowded. Make sure there is enough space for the player to jump at all times, as well as enough room to walk without having to rely on sketchy thin hallways.
- Keep the building supported
To stay in touch with realism, the HM3 builds are supported on the inside as well. Building beams that hold the building up offer 3 advantages: 1. it's more realistic, 2. It forces the layout of the building to change, promoting creativity, 3. It guides your build and adds detail
