About this video: There are a lot of benefits to playing Minecraft Java Edition, but how can you play Minecraft Java with a controller? Well, in this video, we show you exactly how to use a controller on Minecraft Java Edition. This will allow you to use an Xbox, Playstation, Switch, or any other controller that will work with Minecraft PC. You can even use a gamepad with Minecraft Java Edition with this tutorial.
This means that no matter what you will be able to play Minecraft Java Edition with a controller once this video is finished. In this video, we use the Controllable mod in order to play Minecraft Java with a controller. However, Controllable is for Minecraft Forge. If you want to use a controller with Fabric or Quilt mods, you will need to use the Midnight Controls mod, which is linked in the description above.
To get started with the Controllable mod for Minecraft, we need to download it. You can find a link in the description above that will take you to the Controllable download page. On this page, click the “Files” tab. This will take you to where you can see all of the Controllable versions. Find the version of Controllable for the version of Minecraft Java that you want to use the controller mod with. Click the three dots next to it, and click “Download File”.
You will need to repeat the exact process out lined above for the “Framework” mod. This mod is required in order to run the Minecraft controller mod, and a link to it is in the description above.
From there, we will need to download and install Forge. Forge is required for the Minecraft Java controller mod. You can find our complete guide on getting Forge in the description above. This guide is always up to date for the latest version of Minecraft, and it will ensure that no matter what you can get Forge for the Minecraft controller mod on PC.
Once you have Forge, we can move on to how to install the Minecraft Java controller mod. This can be done by opening the Minecraft launcher. Then, navigate to “Installations”. From there, hover over the “Forge” installation and click the folder that appears. This will open your .minecraft folder.
In this folder, you should have a “mods” folder. If not, create one! From there move the Minecraft controller mod and the Framework mod into the mods folder.
Now, go back to the Minecraft launcher and play Minecraft using your Forge installation.
With Minecraft open, how to do you use a controller on Minecraft Java Edition? Well, at this point, all you need to do is plug your controller in via USB or Bluetooth. When you do, Minecraft will recognize the controller, and you can start using it.
As far as changing your PC Minecraft controller settings, go to your Minecraft settings, and you will see a controller icon. Click that, and you can change all of the keybindings for your Minecraft Java Edition controller.
