I just made this discovery today: a consistent way to reach the upper building areas in the coop version of Subway. This map is different in that there is no staircase in the main building and no fans to take you to the upper sections.

The way to do this is to jump onto the lowest segment of a lamp-post (closest to the platform you wish to jump to) and spear-leap to it. You can use this tactic to get to the higher parts of the map and avoid aliens altogether.
