In this video, I will show you how to rebuild a DigitalOcean droplet with a fresh OS. Droplet rebuilds, restore your cloud server to its original configuration parameters for the specified image. Rebuilds are restricted to base images and snapshots in the same OS family. For example, if you spun up your droplet originally with Ubuntu 22.04 (LTS) x64, you can only rebuild your droplet with an Ubuntu OS. The Ubuntu OS can be an equal version, an older version, or a newer version. The rebuild process will erase all the data stored on your droplet, so make sure you back up anything you want to keep before commencing with the rebuild. The droplet when rebuilt, will keep the same cloud server IP address, which is an excellent perk as you won't need to redirect your traffic to a new server IP address if you're managing a website for example.

2. Hover over the droplet you want to rebuild and click on its name (hostname)
3. Click Destroy on the menu to the left
4. Scroll down to Rebuild Droplet
5. Click on the box that says "Select an image"
6. Choose a base image OS (such as Ubuntu) or a snapshot from the same OS family
7. Click Rebuild
8. Click Confirm and wait for your droplet to be rebuilt (refer to the blue status bar)
9. Once your droplet has been rebuilt you will see a green message from DigitalOcean that says Droplet has been rebuild.
10. Your Droplets new log in credentials will be emailed to the same email address you signed up to DigitalOcean with
11. Now open up your SSH client. If you don't have an SSH client installed, you can follow this video of mine to install PuTTY https://youtu.be/0ptZPTTwRaE
12. Copy and paste your droplets IP address into the hostname section of PuTTY and click open
13. You will then be greeted with a PuTTY security alert, click either Accept or Connect Once to continue with your log in
14. Login with the username root and press Enter on your keyboard
15. Enter your root password emailed to you by DigitalOcean as a result of the droplet rebuild and press Enter
16. Enter your droplets current password once again followed by Enter on your keyboard
17. Now, you need to change your root password. To do this input a new password of your choosing, press enter, and retype it to confirm, followed by a final Enter on your keyboard.

Congratulations, you have successfully rebuild a DigitalOcean droplet with a fresh OS and have logged into it using an SSH client.
