I'm using the M4 iPad Pro to show how to reset an iPad and completely and safely erase and delete all its data before you send it back to Apple or gift it or sell it. However, this procedure will be the same for resetting an iPad Air or if you want to reset a standard iPad. Basically, this tutorial will be good for most nearly any iPad.
Doing this type of factor reset of your iPad will safely erase and delete all the data on the iPad, including our photos and videos. So do make sure to have done a save or backup of your data and files before resetting your iPad. This can be done with your iCloud account's cloud storage, other cloud storage or even external storage devices such as thumb drives, hard drives or an external SSD. You will also be prompted to do an iCloud save during the factory reset of your iPad, so choose that option if you need to.
