To search for a player and add them as a friend on Xbox One, you can follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
Navigate to the People tab by pressing the right bumper.
Scroll down to Recent players to see a list of players you have recently played with.

Alternatively, you can select Find someone to search for a specific player by their gamertag.

Once you find the player you want to add, select their profile and choose Add friend.

You will appear as a follower until they add you back.
Select Friend or Favorite to choose what kind of information you want to share with that person.
Finally, select Submit to send the friend request4.
