How to Set Microphone to OPEN instead of Push to Talk (Easy Tutorial)
If you want your microphone to be open (always active) instead of using push-to-talk, here are some steps you can follow based on your specific use case:
Windows 10 Settings:
Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
Click on “Privacy.”
In the left sidebar, select “Microphone.”
Under “Allow Access to the Microphone on This Device,” click the “Change” button and turn on the toggle.
Zoom (for meetings):
Open the Zoom desktop client.
Click your profile picture and then select “Settings.”
Go to the “Audio” tab.
Check the option “Press and hold ‘Space Key’ to temporarily unmute” to enable push-to-talk.
Discord:
By default, Discord activates your microphone when it detects noise.
You can change this setting to push-to-talk:
Click on your user settings (the gear icon near your username).
Go to “Voice & Video.”
Choose either “Voice Activity” (default) or “Push To Talk” to control when your microphone is active
