Here is the best method to switch controllers on your PS5 when one has a low battery:

The Quickest Method:
Press the PS Button on the new controller. As soon as you see the low-battery warning on your screen, simply pick up your second, fully charged controller.

Select your user profile. The PS5 will immediately prompt you to select a user profile for the new controller. Choose the same profile you were just using.

The PS5 will automatically switch control to the new controller and disconnect the low-battery one. The low-battery controller's light will turn off, and a notification will appear on the screen confirming the new controller is connected.
