Video Transcript:
Are you working on a project and need to hand over the reins of a critical document to someone else in Google Drive? Or perhaps you're moving to a new role and need to ensure continuity by transferring ownership of key Google Drive files? Whatever the reason, Google Drive makes it easy to transfer ownership of files, enabling seamless collaboration and project transitions.

In this video I'll show you how to transfer ownership of a Google Drive file, a vital skill for anyone who collaborates on projects or manages digital assets. The only thing to keep in mind is that to transfer ownership of a file to someone, that file must be shared with them first.

Step 1. Open Google Drive and then navigate to the file you want to transfer ownership of.

Step 2. Click the ellipses next to that file. A menu opens.

Step 3. Click "Share" in this menu to open an expanded menu, and then click "Share" again in this expanded menu. A Share window for that file opens.

Step 4. Find the person you want to transfer ownership of this file to in the People with Access section, and then click to open the drop-down menu next to that person. Click "Transfer Ownership" in this section. The Transfer Ownership window opens.

Step 5. Click "Send Invitation" in this window. That window will close, and an invite to own this file in Google Drive will be sent to your chosen person.

Step 6. The person you chose to transfer this file to in Google Drive will get an email letting them know that you've invited them to own a file. They should click "Respond" in this message. Google Drive will open for them, and they'll see a window prompting them to accept ownership of this file. They should tap "Accept." They will now show as the owner of this file in Google Drive.
