In late 2023 Apple rolled out the Journal app for iPhone. As part of that, by default, there is an associated feature called Discoverable by Others. While the feature sounds like it could be an invasion of privacy and either share your data or let other people see where you're at, that isn't the case at all. Rather, when Discoverable by Others is enabled the Journal app can detect other users around you who also have this setting enabled, and use that data to create more relevant prompts for you.
However, if you're not comfortable with your iPhone's Journal app Discoverable by Others feature being enabled, you can easily turn it off.
Step 1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone. You'll land on the Settings menu.
Step 2. Scroll down this menu, and then tap "Privacy and Security." The Privacy and Security screen opens.
Step 3. Scroll down this menu and then tap "Journaling Suggestions." A Journaling Suggestions screen opens.
Step 4. Tap to toggle off "Discoverable by Others." This feature will be turned off going forward
