How to Turn Off PS4 Controller Connected to Phone or PC (Manually Turn OFF)
1To turn off your PS4 controller by holding down a button, follow these simple steps:
Locate the PS Button: This is the large button in the center of your controller, between the two analog sticks, with the PlayStation logo on it.
Press and Hold the PS Button: Press and hold down the PS button for about 10 seconds. You'll know you're doing it right when:
The light bar on the front of the controller starts to flash or change color, indicating it's preparing to power off.
After holding it for around 10 seconds, the controller will turn off, confirmed by the light bar turning off completely.
This method works whether your PS4 controller is connected to:
A PS4 Console:
If the controller is actively connected to your PS4, holding down the PS button might first bring up the quick menu. Keep holding past this point to turn off the controller.
A PC or Phone via Bluetooth or USB:
The controller will turn off regardless of whether it's connected to a PC or a mobile device. However, if you're using software like DS4Windows on a PC, you might need to stop the software or disconnect the controller via the software before this method works.
