How to Turn On or OFF Mic Monitor on Streamlabs OBS (Hear your Own Mic)
To enable or disable mic monitoring in Streamlabs OBS, follow these steps:
Open Streamlabs OBS: Launch the Streamlabs OBS software on your computer.
Access Audio Settings:
Click on the gear icon in the Mixer section to open the Advanced Audio Settings.
From there, click on Alertbox to open the dropdown menu.
Set Monitoring and Output:
Make sure the Alertbox is set to Monitor and Output. This ensures that your stream will hear any alert sounds when you enable or disable mic monitoring.
Adjust Mic Levels:
Before enabling mic monitoring, ensure that your microphone audio level is optimal. Generally, you want your microphone audio level to peak in the yellow section on the audio meter.
If you’re peaking around the yellow section, your audio level should be good. Avoid reaching the red level, as it may cause distortion and unpleasant listening experience for viewers.
Remember to balance your desktop audio so that it doesn’t overpower your voice when speaking.
Fine-Tune with Filters:
Streamlabs Desktop offers various audio filters to enhance your microphone sound. Experiment with these filters to find what works best for you.
One useful tip is to open the advanced audio settings and change your Audio Monitoring for the microphone to “Monitor Only”. This allows you to hear exactly what your viewers will hear from your microphone, giving you better control over your audio settings
