To turn on or off the Steam Overlay on your Steam Deck, follow these steps:

Open Steam Library: Go to your Steam Library and select the game for which you want to enable or disable the overlay.
Access Game Properties: Click on the gear icon next to the game title to open the game properties.

Toggle Overlay: In the properties menu, go to the “General” tab. Here, you will find an option to enable or disable the Steam Overlay while in-game. Simply check or uncheck this option as needed.

If you want to manage the performance overlay specifically:

Quick Access Menu: Press the “Quick Access” button (three dots) on the bottom right of your Steam Deck.

Performance Settings: Select the battery icon to open the performance settings.

Adjust Overlay Level: Use the slider under “Performance Overlay Level” to turn it off or adjust the level of detail displayed
