Changing the background on your Steam Deck in Desktop Mode is pretty straightforward. Here are the steps:

Switch to Desktop Mode: Press the Steam button, go to Power, and select “Switch to Desktop Mode.”

Right-click on the Desktop: Use the left trigger (L2) button to right-click on an empty space on the desktop.

Select Configure Desktop and Wallpaper: From the pop-up menu, choose “Configure Desktop and Wallpaper.”

Choose Your Wallpaper: You can select from the default wallpapers, download new ones, or add a custom image.

Apply the New Wallpaper: Click “Apply” and then “OK” to set your new wallpaper
