How to Turn On Wi-Fi Calling on iPhone
Ensure Carrier Support and Software Update:
Confirm your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling (e.g., AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile in the U.S.). Check Apple’s support page for a list of supported carriers: Wireless carrier support for iPhone.
Update your iPhone to the latest iOS version: Go to Settings - General - Software Update and install any available updates.
Open Settings:
Tap the Settings app on your iPhone’s home screen.
Navigate to Wi-Fi Calling:
Tap Cellular (or Mobile Service in some regions, e.g., UK, AU). If your iPhone has Dual SIM or eSIM, select the line under SIMs.
Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
Toggle on Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone. The slider should turn green.
Enter Emergency Address:
You may be prompted to enter or confirm an emergency address (E911) for emergency services, as required by law. Enter your street address, city, state, and zip code, then tap Save.
To update this later, go to Settings - Phone - Wi-Fi Calling - Update Emergency Address.
Verify Activation:
Once enabled, connect to a Wi-Fi network. You’ll see “Wi-Fi” or “Wi-Fi Calling” next to your carrier’s name in the status bar (on iPhone X and later, swipe down to view in Control Center).
This indicates Wi-Fi Calling is active.
