To remove a controller (DualShock 4) from your PlayStation 4 (PS4) and forget the device from the console’s Bluetooth settings, follow these steps. This process is useful for troubleshooting, re-pairing, or decluttering the list of connected devices.

Step 1: Disconnect the Controller
Turn On Your PS4: Ensure the console is powered on and you’re signed into a user profile with a connected controller.
Access Settings:

From the PS4 home screen, navigate to Settings (briefcase icon).
Go to Devices:

Select Devices - Bluetooth Devices.
Select the Controller:

A list of connected or previously paired devices will appear, including any DualShock 4 controllers (listed as “DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller”).
Highlight the controller you want to remove. If multiple controllers are listed, identify the correct one by checking which is currently active (it may show as “Connected”) or by turning on the controller to see which light bar activates.
Disconnect the Controller:

Press the Options button on your active controller while highlighting the target controller.

Select Disconnect to temporarily disable the connection. The controller’s light bar will turn off, indicating it’s no longer active.

Step 2: Forget the Device
Forget the Controller:

In the same Bluetooth Devices menu, highlight the controller again.
Press the Options button and select Forget Device.

Confirm the action when prompted. This removes the controller from the PS4’s list of paired Bluetooth devices.

Verify Removal:

The controller should no longer appear in the Bluetooth Devices list. If it does, repeat the process or restart the PS4.
