How to Connect a Second Controller to your PS5 (Best Method)
To connect a second controller to your PS5, follow these steps:
Turn on your PS5: Ensure your console is powered on.
Use the primary controller: With the first controller already connected, go to the PS5 home screen.
Access Settings:
Navigate to Settings (gear icon) on the top-right of the home screen.
Select Accessories - General - Bluetooth Accessories.
Put the second controller in pairing mode:
On the second DualSense controller, press and hold the Create button (left of the touchpad) and the PS button (bottom center) simultaneously until the light bar starts flashing.
Pair the controller:
In the PS5’s Bluetooth Accessories menu, the second controller should appear as “DualSense Wireless Controller” under “Found Accessories.”
Select it to pair. The light bar will stop flashing and glow a solid color (indicating Player 2, typically orange).
Assign a user:
If prompted, assign the controller to an existing user profile or create a new one. You can do this via Settings - Users and Accounts - Users.
Test the connection:
Return to the home screen or launch a multiplayer game to confirm the second controller is working.
