About this video: Minecraft 1.19.3 just released, and you are wondering how to update your Minecraft server. Well, this is the video for you! We go over all of the steps that you need to follow in order to update your Minecraft server to 1.19.3. Including how to backup your Minecraft server in order to make sure that all of your files are safe even if the update doesn’t go as planned.
So let’s get started with that. Before we update your Minecraft server to 1.19.3, we will need to back it up. This is actually really simple. Just right-click on the folder that has all of your server files in it and click copy. Then, create a new folder on your desktop called ‘Backup Minecraft Server’.
Open this folder, and right-click in it and click paste. Your Minecraft server will folder will appear here. Make sure the world folder is there, and that everything looks like it copied correctly. You have now backed up your Minecraft server.
The reason that it is so important to backup your Minecraft server when updating to Minecraft 1.19.3 is because, while there shouldn’t be a reason that your server would break updating, if you have a backup, it’s not a big deal if something does go wrong.
So with that being said, we can now update your Minecraft server to 1.19.3. To do this, you will need to download the Minecraft 1.19.3 server file. You can find a link to the Minecraft server versions website in the description above. This will list out all of the Minecraft server versions for your to download. For this video, we will be clicking download on the 1.19.3 version and clicking download on the next page.
With the new server.jar downloaded, we need to open up your server directory. Find your old server.jar, and delete it. Then, move your new 1.19.3 server.jar that you just downloaded into your server’s folder.
From here, all you need to do update your Minecraft server to 1.19.3 is run your server like you normally would. This would be by double-click the server.jar or starting the run.bat file. Either way, when your server starts, it will make any necessary updates, and you will be good to go.
You can now join your Minecraft server on 1.19.3.
I do want to make a not about how to update a modded Minecraft server. This process is complete different. For a modded server, you won’t just need to update your server’s jar file. You will also need to make sure you update all of your mods to Minecraft 1.19.3 as well. Otherwise, it will not work. We cannot stress enough how important in this is. If you start a modded server without updating the mods, it will most likely corrupted world. Another reason why backups are so important.
As for servers with plugins, the same is true. Update your Paper file to Minecraft 1.19.3 and all of your plugins to 1.19.3. Then, you will be able to start your server and safely update. It is worth noting, though, that some plugins do work in every 1.19 version, and starting a server with plugins on 1.19.3 to test things shouldn’t overall be much of an issue. Just make sure to take a backup before hand.
At this point though, you have gotten the complete overview of how to update your Minecraft server to version 1.19.3. If you have any questions about how to update your Minecraft server, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
