In this video, I will be showing you how to change to the new Stealth VPN Protocol offered by Proton VPN. Stealth is available on all Proton VPN plans, including the Free plan. For now, you can use stealth on Android, macOS, and iOS apps. As of this videos release date there is no Windows version of Proton VPS's stealth protocol. On October 11th, 2022 the stealth protocol was announced by the Proton Team in a news article. The stealth protocol was developed from the ground up and can mask your public IP address allowing you to bypass most firewalls and VPN blocking methods. Stealth uses an obfuscation method with TLS tunneling over TCP which is different to using UDP offered by many of the popular VPN protocols. The disadvantage to using VPN's with UDP obfuscation is that it makes them easier to detect and block.
Steps To Change To And Use For Free Proton VPNs Stealth Protocol:
1. Create A Free tier Proton Account by using my referral link https://go.getproton.me/aff_c?offer_id=26&aff_id=2033&url_id=397
2. Download and install the Proton VPN app or client appropriate for your device and operating system.
3. Open Proton VPN by tapping on the app or double clicking on the clients shortcut
4. Sign in to your Proton account on the Proton VPN app or client
5. Follow one of the following steps:
Android (demonstrated in this video):
Tap on ☰ → Settings → Advanced → Protocol and choose Stealth.
iOS and iPadOS
Tap Settings → Security options → Protocol and choose Stealth.
macOS,
ProtonVPN in the macOS taskbar → Preferences → Connection → Protocol and select Stealth from the dropdown menu.
6. Select a server. If you're on the free tier you're limited to three countries, Japan, The Netherlands and the USA. If you want to more servers in 60+ countries you will need to upgrade to a paid plan. 7. Check your public IP address to see if it is indeed masks by Proton VPN's stealth protocol.
