How to use Phone as Remote on Chromecast (Google TV)
To use your phone as a remote for a Chromecast (with Google TV or older models), you can utilize the Google Home app or specific streaming apps. Below are the steps for both iPhone and Android devices.
For Chromecast with Google TV
Install Google Home App:
Download the Google Home app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) if not already installed.
Sign in with your Google account.
Ensure Network Compatibility:
Confirm your phone and Chromecast are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Select Your Chromecast:
Open the Google Home app.
Find your Chromecast device on the home screen or under Devices (tap Favorites or Devices tab).
Access Virtual Remote:
Tap your Chromecast device in the app.
Look for the Open remote button (may appear as a remote icon or under device options).
The virtual remote interface will appear, allowing you to:
Navigate the Google TV interface (up, down, left, right, OK).
Access Home, Back, or Menu.
Control volume (if HDMI-CEC is enabled).
Use the on-screen keyboard for typing.
Activate voice search (tap the microphone icon).
Use the Remote:
Navigate the Google TV interface to select apps, play content, or adjust settings.
For example, open Netflix, search for a show, or go to Settings to pair a physical remote.
