95% of this episode is about Soong and his android creations. But as a GM you could use similar ideas with some other sort of artificial life forms. Star Trek has a LOT of those. Most of which actually have emotions... unlike Data.

Which makes the reveal of Juliana... kinda predictable later. As a kid seeing it the first time I didn't get it. But rewatching as an adult it felt like a given that Data and Lore really weren't the only ones.

Anyways, the renegade scientist plot is totally a thing you could do. Maybe a Klingon or Romulan one this time though?
