This ep has a really heavy focus on a single character: Jono.... not a series regular or even recurring character. That's not particularly useful, since you'd probably not try to play it straight and reenact the episode.

However, the backstory of who the Talarians are and how they fought a war against the Federation is pretty neat. Seemingly this isn't as simple as the Talarians losing either. And that's something interesting, they DON'T explain how the conflict started, merely that it involved border disputes and at lest two colony systems were fought over.

More so, the Federation was technologically superior, but was not always the victor in combat. But, while we know there were many combats between Talarians and the Feds, we only have one example of a battle being decisively won at all, and that was the colony where Jono was living. In that case the Talarians had seized the entire solar system seemingly.
