Today we have a Star Trek episode that sets up soooo much stuff in a short period of time... and also leaves a whole LOT of question that were NEVER answered.

Who fought in the Erselrope Wars? Why didn't the Federation know the status of the Minosian civilization? How messed up is that region of the galaxy if the Minosians had colony worlds that got wiped out too? Has the Federation seen the last of that terrifying technology?

None of these questions has an answer in canon, but would be fun to play with.
