How to use your Android SmartPhone as a veritable GPS navigation unit without a data network

Any information you choose to put into use from this video is done AT YOUR OWN RISK. Always obey local traffic and safety laws and regulation. DO NOT operate ANY handheld electronic device (including a SmartPhone) while in operation of a motor vehicle.
This video will show you how to use your Android SmartPhone as a veritable GPS navigation unit, without the need to use a persistent, constant, consistent data network connection (data plan) provided by your wireless service provider. All that is needed is access to a temporary Internet connection (such as Wi-Fi) BEFORE you leave (in order to obtain the actual navigation routes and directions to your SmartPhone), and of course, GPS hardware installed in your Android device (some tablets for example do not have this hardware present. Check the specifications of your hardware online to confirm if you have this hardware present in your Android device or not).
This how-to video will make use of two applications (or apps) that come installed by default on most Android operating systems: Google Maps and the Navigate extension of Google Maps.
