Human Rights activists and lawyer, Frank Tietie has been conferred with a life membership certificate of the Historical Society of Nigeria.

Tietie, who is also the Executive Director of Citizens Advocacy for Social Economic Rights ( CASER) was accorded with the honour over his selfless service to humanity over the years.

Accepting the award, Bar Tietie commended the Historical Society of Nigeria for the recognition insisting that history as a discipline
remains a beacon of hope for socio economic development of Nigeria.

Lamenting over the state of affairs in the country, Tietie said it is time the narrative changes over preference for people with historical background to take a shot at governance.

Earlier, the President, Historical Society of Nigeria, Prof Samuel Aghalino said the conferment of life membership certificate on Bar Tietie was to spur him to do more for humanity.

Prof Aghalino while reacting to other issues of National importance blamed the present quack mire of rising cost of living in the country to neglect of the nations history by its leaders.

Aghalino who said the Historical Society of Nigeria will continue to advocate on the relevance of history to addressing various socio economic challenges bedeviling the nation, insisted that Nigeria needs to utilize its past to better the future.
