The Nigeria Labour congress has made good it's threat to stage a nationwide protest over the rising cost of living in the country.

The protest which commenced from the
NLC headquarters at the Central business district of Abuja had many members of the union and it's allies brandishing placards with diverse inscriptions.

The protest train terminated at the National Assembly with the gates thrown open without resistance from security personnel.

Addressing the gathering, the NLC president said the protest was called to draw the attention of president Bola Tinubu to the economic hardship in the country.

Ajaero who raised concerns over the state of insecurity as it affects farmers across the country, called on the government to do more to address the concern.

Responding on behalf of the National Assembly leadership, the chairman Senate committee on Labour,Employment and Productivity, Senator Dikat Plang assured the NLC led protesters of efforts by the legislature to look into the matter and come up with favourable solutions

Thereafter, the protest letter was handed over to the National assembly leadership with commitment that the needful would be done to make life more easy for Nigerians.

The 2 day Nationwide Protest as declared by the NLC continues on Wednesday 28 February.
