First impressions make you go...why?

Why does this game exist and why is it so basic? Well, it's not. I'm not saying it's good and I'm not saying it pushed any limits or innovated or any of that. But this is one of those living tech demos that only makes sense if you consider this game with the knowledge that it was basically a SNES launch title for the US. Not really, but close. It was released in Japan when the SNES was getting released here and then a month later it made it. It makes sense when you put it against F-Zero and Pilotwings for the flaunting of the Mode 7. It's just not as good or complete as either of those games and they were released right next to it. It's not often that HAL misses, but here it is.
