Hypocrisy in Video Games: Are We the “4th Most Spoken Language”? Only When It's Convenient
In this video, I discuss a topic that bothers me deeply: the hypocrisy with which some Spaniards defend the Spanish language only when it suits them. When a game isn't translated, they demand dubbing using the argument that "Spanish is the fourth most spoken language in the world." But when that dubbing arrives in Latin American Spanish, many despise, mock, or dismiss it.
So what really matters? The language or the accent they like?
Here's a necessary and honest reflection, with data on the Hispanic market, video game consumption, and the reality that 90% of Spanish speakers live in Latin America.
If you're going to use our language as your flag, at least respect those who make it global.
