I Do the "No Adult Content" for 60 Days Challenge
I Do the "No Adult Content" for 60 Days Challenge
One of the hardest challenges I have faced on YouTube was quitting adult content for 30 days. I was an avid watcher and consumed at least daily until I took that challenge. After the thirty days of abstaining from it I kept not watching for a few months. That is, until I relapsed back into my old habit of gooning. Now, in this redux challenge, I will be doubling my length of freedom from adult content for sixty days. Was it easy? Is porn really that bad for you? We’ll discuss in this video challenge.
[Jack - Intro]
The rules of this challenge are simple. No more pornography for at least the next sixty days. That is pretty hard to do, especially as the internet has become more and more sexual. You log in to Reddit and see a harmless sub about progress pics. Only to see an attractive girl with an onlyfans link in their bio. Same with X, if you go on the website, it only takes a few seconds of scrolling to see a woman in her bikini talking about world events that, again, leads to any onlyfans page. Hell, even Youtube has a trend of see through clothing reviews. They block people from saying bad words but showing nudity to kids is alright in alphabets book. For this challenge, I will block all of this content from my browser. I discussed how I did that with my day 1 review.
[Day 1]
With that extension installed, I am off to be free from adult content. The first question everyone always asks is why would you stop. Porn is not bad for you, and it isn't addictive. It’s just videos of people sleeping together. It’s all well and good… Well, my friends, both of those are lies. According to a scientific review from Cureus: Journal of Medical Science, pornography is both addictive and can cause many disastrous side effects. The review, titled "Physiological, Psychosocial and Substance Abuse Effects of Pornography Addiction: A Narrative Review," will be linked below. From the various research studies collected, the researchers concluded:
"The development of new technology has increased problematic addictive behavior, particularly addiction to online pornography. The most often reported sexual dysfunctions in the general population are premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, and desire and arousal dysfunction. The reward system's functioning, as well as the brain connections that control erection and sexual desire, may change as a result of regular exposure to porn, which may cause a delay in ejaculation. Hypersexual behavior has been associated with anxiety problems, mood disorders, substance use disorders, and sexual dysfunction. Low mood, melancholy, lower self-esteem, and decreased appetite are some of the physiological impacts of porn."
As a married man who has been with my wife for over ten years, I agree. There have been weeks where I don't feel like engaging in sexual activity due to my consumption of adult content. And I am not the only one. It only takes a few seconds of looking to see that porn is a massive issue in many relationships. So many couples are dealing with sexless marriages due to a pornography addiction. That’s not even touching the ethics concern of adult content such as the high rate of suicide of the actors and sexual abuse conducted by the directors. With all of this said, I felt it was time to introduce a gap in my life to adult content. Here's my update for day eight of the sixty-day challenge.
[Day 8]
That's right; my mind is wild. If I wanted to engage in fun by my self, I was using my imagination. Thanks to the lack of online content consumption, I was stretching my creative muscles in ways that most people don't have to do. I swear that some of the best art in the world was just horny dudes creating a release. There isn’t any evendince of this of course but I swear there’s got to be something there.
For those who are wondering, yes, quitting porn did increase the frequency of engagement with my wife. If you are in a relationship or married, this aspect alone is the reason why it's worth quitting. You will be more in the mood, increasing your attraction to one another and contributing to more fun times. It's a vicious circle that is amazing for your life.
The challenge of no adult content was hard… but not as hard as it once was. The previous time I did this challenge was back in January of 2023. I did this challenge from September 23rd to November 21st of 2024. Due to the closeness of when I did the previous challenge, it was much easier for me to quit adult content than most people. I know many people struggle to quit pornography. I want to provide some tips to quit, but first, here are my day eighteen and day thirty vlogs.
