As guys, we love to work out our biceps to get them big and strong. We love to work out the abs to get a visible six-pack. We love to work out our traps to look like the rock. And we love to work out our minds to become more intelligent and earn more money. However, a group of muscles we don't really focus on between the mind and the traps is in our necks. That puppy holds all of this together. According to a study linked below, and URL on screen, that is bad since about fourteen percent of men experience neck pain. Working out these muscles may help our posture and pain relief. So, I went on Amazon and picked up this little guy for ten dollars. Let's see if I can get the neck of Chad by using this guy for thirty days in a row. My name is Jack Jenkins, and welcome to my channel. I do videos in the realm of self-improvement. Nothing like rocking out to that Ukulele remix, am I, right fellas. While most workout devices for men are Neck Harnesses, I wanted to start a little easier with this guy. I’ll do a neck harness later on and compare the two in a future video. Let's walk through the device before I get into the experiment. It's a cheap little plastic pump that holds a spring. You just push your head against the spring, squeeze your neck muscles, and then release. The version came with three different springs, from light to hard. It doesn't actually say the resistance of these springs on it, but it's not that much. Maybe like four pounds at most. My order also came with a bit of travel back, so you can carry it along with you as you travel. Overall, for ten bucks, it's alright. I did have to oil the sliding mechanism halfway through my experiment.

Speaking of experiments, let's go through what I wanted to achieve. As you can see behind me, I wanted to work out my neck by squeezing the device. The challenge was to do this neck trainer every day for three minutes a day for thirty days. I take off every sixth day to heal from my challenges and have enough time to leave my house. My soft goals for this challenge were to not only have a more visibly more muscular neck but also wanted to help get rid of any neck pain I had. As a measurable goal, I wanted my neck to grow at least a few centimeters over the course of the thirty days. That may have been too much of a goal, but it's what I wanted. And I always get what I want!

Let’s get to the before in the before and after shot before I continue further. By the way, I forgot to hit record when I measured my neck in the beginning, so I can't show you, but I started at forty-six centimeters. I was hoping to hit around fifty centimeters which is a lofty goal. Behind me is what my neck looks like at the beginning of the challenge. I started the challenge on May 9th of, 2022 and finished on June 7th, 2022. I am recording this about a month after I am finished on [today’s date]. So, for those of you who are looking at my neck now for results this is about a month over. Now, let's get rocking with thirty days of neck training!

As you can see from the background, I didn't have much of a challenge completing these workouts. I used the medium spring initially and then moved to swap back and forth between the medium and the hard spring during the middle. For the last week, I used just the hard spring and really got those neck muscles burning. I felt my neck squeeze and burn as I completed each challenge. One thing I wished I did differently in this challenge was to keep track of how many reps of the neck trainer I did, as I am curious to see if there was a dip in reps between when I was using the medium-level spring and the hard spring. I hope all of you guys repeat this experiment so you can also become better! If you do, then learn from my mistakes.

While the footage of me plays in the background, I wanted to see if there was any further research on whether this device helps. After over an hour of Googling, I couldn't find anything about these types of devices. However, I did find some indicating that doing neck exercises in general or with a neck harness may be slightly beneficial for you. One study I found, URL shown on screen and linked below, found that neck muscle conditioning can strengthen the neck. They had a group of thirty-four sixteen to eighteen-year-old rugby players and divided them in half. One half was given a tailored neck exercise routine, and the other group wasn't. After six weeks, they found that the wasn't a significant difference between the two.
