My in depth review of the Intensity Pro 4k with a focus on usage on the Ubuntu Linux desktop, for recording the desktop, Linux games and also game consoles.

I pair the OBS with the Intensity Pro 4k, and use shortened versions of their name in the benchmark.

OBS + IP4k 3500 means I record with OBS through Intensity Pro 4k at a bitrate of 3500.

OBS + IP4k 10000 means I record with OBS through Intensity Pro 4k at a bitrate of 10000.

I did not use NVENC for two reasons:
1. I do not have a working implementation.
2. It's an Nvidia specific solution.

I try to cover as many scenarios as possible, but there's only so much I can encompass. No doubt I will miss certain use cases that some of you may have in mind.

In the benchmarks, I cover 4 games. They are Bioshock Infinite, Counter Strike Global Offensive, Shadow of Mordor and Metro Last Light Redux.

This review is based on a single computer setup. Most of the people who purchase an IP4k intend to use it on a separate computer from their main computer, not I.

I almost didn't include RecordMyDesktop in the benchmarks because of how unstable it is. It was the only program I needed to spend extra time trying to make it work to record the 4 games.

Thanks to Blackmagic Design, we can now record games on Linux using the Intensity Pro 4k and this should work well for any Linux distro. Official support however seems to be for DEB based systems (Ubuntu for example) and RPM based systems (Fedora for example).

I welcome any criticism and guidance on improving the video quality I put out. Please do bear in mind it took me one week to get this video put together (mostly due to issues with RecordMyDesktop and Kdenlive).
