Ironlights - VR Gameplay Valve Index
17Well that went south pretty quickly. Game just wasn't gunna let me end on a win... When I reconnected the headset the game crashed. It was about time to wrap up anyways so here we are.
As you can see by my utter defeat. Ironlights is a high skill game. Something I have very little of apparently...
Beautiful game. Great pump you up music. While the sword fighting is fun, the play space issues were pretty frustrating. I don't think it would have changed any fights for me but it was definitely a handicap. I'd love to see some in match option for recentering your play space that doesn't break the game or become an exploit.
I was a bit surprised to find opponents so easily. The population of the game seems fairly healthy. This coupled with the PvE while you wait mechanic seems to address my population concerns for now.
Speaking of opponents, I would like to be able to talk to my opponent if we both opt for voice chat. I can see this getting very toxic very quickly so a opt out or quick mute would be great but I'd love to have chatted up the Black Knight on his great sword technique. A sadly missed opportunity. If you're watching Black Knight, drop a comment and lets chat!
The pacing of the game is very interesting. Definitely an easy to pick up, difficult to master mechanic. The overall fight feels a bit slow paced waiting for bars to fill up so you can do something. Then when that something happens, it's very frantic and chaotic for a few seconds before resuming the slow wait for bars to fill up. I'm undecided on if this is a good thing or a bad thing. It open up for more strategy with the risk/reward gameplay of charging up but it's not exactly the most fun part of the fight.
Definitely a recommend on this one for PvP fans. There looks to be plenty of content for PvE fans to dig into as well.
