Is This The Ultimate VR Pirate Game? // PIRATES VR Jolly Roger PSVR Gameplay
272If you've ever wanted to become a rum guzzling pirate in VR then Pirates VR Jolly Roger might be the game for you, this brand new PSVR2 game aims to give players the ultimate VR pirate adventure by setting you free on a tropical island filled with puzzles to solve, items to find and skeletons to fight! Pirates VR Jolly Roger is a great looking game on PSVR2 and it definitely captures the aesthetic of an exciting VR pirate adventure however some players might want more action and adventure than this short experience can offer. Pirates VR Jolly Roger averages around 3hrs to complete and large portions of the game are focused on exploration, climbing and puzzle solving, meaning this often feels more like a walking simulator than a VR action adventure game. Things definitely pick up in the games second half however where you'll be mowing down skeletons with axes, your magical lantern and a pistol. For those thinking about picking this new VR game up it's worth noting that this is definitely an indie experience, most of what you see within these environments cannot be interacted with, the pistol has no manual reload and the inventory system is a simple (but effective) flat UI rather than a physical backpack or satchel. If you can accept the indie charms of this VR pirate adventure you'll no doubt have a good time but if you go in expecting a more fleshed out triple A product you might walk away disappointed.
