Walkthrough/Playthrough/Let's Play

Description:

Sam Anon is a "lesbian disaster" with low self-esteem, but maybe things will get better if she joins Grace Morningstar and Valentin Vaillante in their quest to defeat the Machine Devil and his bigoted cult. Unfortunately, they are also opposed by the Divine Order, which prioritizes arbitrary rules over actually stopping the cultists. Fortunately, one of the Divine Order angels, Angela, joins after being convinced of the righteousness of their cause.

0:00 Road

Kat is still waiting for us to rescue her from her psycho ex.

1:50 Gas Stop

According to an NPC, there's a of Machine Devil corruption on the road.

It's not just the party who likes Sam's style; the NPCs think she's cool too. Despite all that, there's an important reason why she's insecure.

3:27 Accelerationist Bull

Gaius is the ex, and it turns out he's not just Kat's ex. He was once Valentin's ex, and he uses Valentin's redacted deadname to taunt them. When the party calls him out on all the crimes and murders committed by the cult, he tries to downplay them or victim blame. He claims all of this is necessary to reinvent society in a more ideal way, but it's clear he really just wants to hurt the people he deems inferior.

8:01 Boss: Gaius (Normal/Devil Clock)

Note that he starts the battle by saying "you three girls." That's going to be important soon.

His gimmick is that he constantly changes his elements, so you should go into this battle with either nuke or neutral element abilities for consistent damage. I really see no point in equipping the other elements if you can't determine what the enemy is going to use.

14:15 Diner

Turns out Gaius's exes formed a support group and that he was bigoted scum towards a lot of people while initially hiding behind a nice facade. Valentin wonders if they could have done something to steer Gaius away from the cult, but considering how long Gaius was like this, I highly doubt it. I suspect by the time Valentin first met Gaius, it was already too late for the latter to change through compassion.

Sam points out that Gaius misgendered Valentin, but since he counted three girls, that means Gaius also misgendered someone else in the party.

24:20 Road P2

Gaius's misgendering of her didn't do any favors for Sam's mental state, to the point where Sam can no longer see or hear her friends for the rest of the act. I thought it was Machine Devil magic at first, but I think this trippy segment of the game is actually indicating the level of trauma Sam is going through, which is a lot if she can't evet see the driver of the car.

Sam feels out of place in the party, due to her past struggle with transitioning, her lack of confidence, and lack of offensive abilities.

There are a bunch of cards cutting in from time to time. They seem to be Sam's inner thoughts as well, or maybe they're her friends attempting to console her.

30:25 Gas Stop P2

I finally managed to turn in the triple cultist quest, but I wonder if I turned it in too late.

32:30 Road P3

Apparently, she was thinking about stuff like this even when Valentin asked for her pronouns. It's the least harmful thing to do, but it can still feel bad. Sam also worries about sharing her insecurities with her friends, since she feels it would be selfish to do so.

42:26 Gas Stop P3

I'm really worried I may have missed some quests. Is this going to screw me out of Rank IX gear?

45:03 Road P4

At this point, a voice inside Sam tells her to take the easy way out and return to being male.

There's a social media segment showing the effect of transphobic comments, and the background looks like Twitter.

1:01:15 Gas Stop P4

1:03:26 Road P5

1:06:49 Boss: Deadname (Normal/Devil Clock)

The boss is a male version of Sam, who is handsome but utterly demeaning towards the real Sam due to representing her inner turmoil. The boss is nuke elemental and will eventually down everyone but Sam. Once you revive them all, Sam will be able to perceive their existence again.

1:10:48 Diner P2

Apparently, the boss battle we had was physically perceivable to the rest of the party, but they choose the girl Sam over the douchey prince, who could out-douche Cedric Reise Arnor.
