Janky Stanky Games 3 - (teddyras)
5The first 3 games games I'd group together as disappointments. These games looked cool to me, but after playing them, they were not fun or they were bad for whatever reason. The 1st two were close to being good, but had bad decisions made that turned them into not being that good of games.
Chiroterra needed to make the lighter shittier as a light source than the headlamp and also it either never runs out of fuel or takes like 5 times as long to do so. Also at no point was I really threatened, so if that comes later, I didn't play long enough before dying of hypothermia to find out.
Seybul ended right as it started to get super interesting. It reminds of me of when I listen to some random indie music and think "wow, this is a long intro, when does the song begin?" except the song never begins because this is the song. This is the video game equivalent of that. I mostly made my own fun during this. I like these liminal space type games, but so few get it right.
This last game just ended up boring. Not much to say about it.
This 2nd group of games are free steam games. Now my relationship to free steam games is an all or nothing sort of deal: they are either some of the best short games I've ever played or they are bad and entertaining. These ones all fell in the latter category.
Lancaster leak had another game that I liked, this one is not like that game. They're both like fake SCP type things, which I like, but this one is just a quiz that does some weird stuff. For one, every test goes on too long, some of them aren't really explained that well what they want you to do, and the game includes screamers like it's 2002 again. thanks I hate it
Obscura just bored me. The puzzles did not interest me, and I don't even remember if there were any threats.
Self-indulgence is weird because it should just be a demo, but it's put on steam as a full game for some reason. Also the game itself is janky and a lot of weird stuff happens in it. Ok gamers, gonna be honest, these last 2 are decent, I don't think they're that bad, but they fit best into this vod and not elsewhere, so like here they are. It's not the worst RE1 type game I've played, but like, it's weird lmao.
The last game plays like a mike kublinka game, the guy that made buckshot roulette. It's alright, not as good as his games, but not really bad, just real ok. That nuclear reactor has the worst fuel source ever, they last 5 seconds lol.
