Jerp plays Cyber Shadow pt.1 - Revenge & Rescue in the Robo-pocalypse (2021-01-26)
There are two great Ninja platformers that I've had my eye on for a while - the earlier release was Sabotage Studio's The Messenger (even ended up speed running that for a bit), and now I finally get to try out MekaSkull's Cyber Shadow. While The Messenger is a bit brighter and more light-hearted, this game has a darker and more serious tone and aesthetic, similar to the original Ninja Gaiden games - though in this case Cyber Shadow focuses more on a futuristic theme whereas Ninja Gaiden mixed modern times with a demonic assault.
So far the art and music have been fantastic (especially that first level theme) and the controls have overall been super responsive. The game's difficulty is nothing to sneeze at - while you have all of the tools needed to deftly and cleanly defeat everything that stands in your way, it's just as easy to slip up and take a ton of damage all at once, or hop right into a pit or some instant-death spikes. If it wasn't already evident by the trailers and twitter gifs the developer has been putting out, the speed runs for this game are going to be intense.
