Jet Fighter IV: Fortress America • D-Day (F-22 Raptor)
Another mission from Jet Fighter 4. It's pretty action packed, first we need to engage overwhelming force of enemy interceptors and then take out the invasion force.
My first attempt failed as all of my F-22 wingmen got shot down and I didn't had more AAMs to handle remaining hostiles before they shot me down.
On my second attempt seems like I didn't triggered the enemy spawn as I didn't followed axact route? Also Hornets seemed to stick with my flight this time. We approached the SF The Rock style, but some of my wingman were not Sierra Hotel enough to clear the Golden Gate lol. Bunch of amateurs...
The strike had to be done quick and thankfully we already had 3 ships pre-targeted so we could engage them with rapid firing Mavericks (one of my wingman got hit by one, what an amateur...). The remaining two landing ships had to be manually targeted with LANTIRN and engaged with 2 remaining LGBs.
Note on non-arrested landings - since JF3 there were problems with getting your aircrafy to a stop. In JF3 / Full Burn it was pretty easy trick - you had to re-engage brakes when slowing below 100kts (B key engaged airbrake above this speed while below that speed it engaged wheel brake). In JF4 it's more complicated - to fully stop the F-22 I had to re-engage the brake several times, and then when seemingly the aircraft will not slow down further, you need to pull up on the stick (weirdly the G force meter will show 3G which is nonsense) and make sure your flaps are retracted at this point. And prey your aircraft stops before the runway threashold. Maybe it's because of too fast CPU, or perhaps because landings are not mandatory to finish the mission they weren't thoroughly tested?
